What Is This Tool?
The eBay Seller Fee Calculator estimates the final value fee, per-order fee and optional promoted listing fee on a sale, then shows your net profit and margin. It is useful for anyone selling on eBay, from occasional sellers to full-time stores.
What Can You Do With It?
Know what you will actually receive before you list or accept an offer. Compare prices with and without free shipping. See how a promoted listing rate affects your profit.
How Does It Work?
Total amount = sold price + shipping charged + sales tax. Fees = total amount × final value fee % + per-order fee + sold price × promoted listing %. Net profit = sold price + shipping charged − fees − item cost − your shipping cost. Margin = net profit ÷ (sold price + shipping).
Key Benefits
Includes sales tax in the fee base, as eBay does for most US categories. Lets you change the final value fee for categories with different rates. Instant results with no sign-up.
Limitations and Important Notes
The default 13.25% and $0.40 apply to many US categories, but not all. Check the eBay fee page for your category and store level. International fees, currency conversion and below-standard seller surcharges are not included.
Privacy and Security
The numbers you enter in the eBay Seller Fee Calculator (sold price, shipping charged, sales tax charged and so on) are calculated in your browser. They are not sent to or saved on Usekit servers, and they disappear when you close the page.
Real-World Example
Inputs: Sold price = 50; Shipping charged = 8; Sales tax charged = 0; Final value fee = 13.25; Per-order fee = 0.4; Item cost = 20; Your shipping cost = 8; Promoted listing = 0. Results: Total eBay fees = $8.08; Net profit = $21.92; Profit margin = 37.78%.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does eBay charge fees on shipping?
Yes. In most US categories the final value fee is calculated on the total amount, which includes shipping and sales tax. This calculator does the same.
What should I enter for promoted listings?
Enter the ad rate you set in Promoted Listings Standard. It is applied to the sold price. Leave it at 0 if you do not promote the item.
Why is my margin lower than expected?
Fees are charged on sales tax and shipping too, so they can take a larger share of a low-priced item than you might think.
