What Is This Tool?
The Amazon FBA Break-Even Calculator shows how much you keep from each unit sold through Fulfillment by Amazon, the lowest price that still covers your costs, and how many units you must sell to pay back one-time costs. It is built for new and existing Amazon sellers checking a product before ordering inventory.
What Can You Do With It?
Check whether a product idea is profitable before you buy stock. Find the minimum selling price that covers product, shipping, FBA, storage and PPC costs. Estimate how many sales are needed to recover launch costs such as photos or samples.
How Does It Work?
The referral fee is taken as a percentage of the selling price. Profit per unit = price × (1 − referral %) − (product cost + inbound shipping + FBA fee + storage + PPC). Break-even price = per-unit costs ÷ (1 − referral %). Units to cover fixed costs = fixed costs ÷ profit per unit, rounded up.
Key Benefits
Shows break-even price and payback units in one view. Every fee is an editable field, so you can enter the exact numbers from Seller Central. Instant results with no sign-up.
Limitations and Important Notes
Default FBA, storage and referral values are examples only. Amazon fees change by category, size tier and season. Returns, long-term storage, and taxes are not included unless you add them to a cost field. If profit per unit is zero or negative, the payback units show 0 because costs can never be recovered.
Privacy and Security
The numbers you enter in the Amazon FBA Break-Even Calculator (selling price, product cost, inbound shipping per unit and so on) are calculated in your browser. They are not sent to or saved on Usekit servers, and they disappear when you close the page.
Real-World Example
Inputs: Selling price = 29.99; Product cost = 8; Inbound shipping per unit = 1; FBA fulfillment fee = 5.5; Referral fee = 15; Storage fee per unit = 0.3; PPC cost per unit = 2; One-time fixed costs = 500. Results: Profit per unit = $8.69; Margin = 28.98%; Break-even price = $19.76; Units to cover fixed costs = 58.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find my real FBA fee?
Use the FBA Revenue Calculator or fee preview in Amazon Seller Central for your exact product size and weight, then type that number into the FBA fulfillment fee field.
Why is the break-even price higher than my total costs?
Because Amazon takes its referral fee as a percentage of the sale price, the price must be raised enough to cover both your costs and that percentage.
Does this include sales tax?
No. Amazon usually collects and remits marketplace sales tax separately, so it is not part of this calculation.
