    What Is This Tool?

The Background Remover separates the main subject of a photo from its background and gives you a transparent PNG.

What Can You Do With It?

Make product photos with transparent backgrounds. Create profile pictures and stickers. Prepare images for design projects.

    How Does It Work?

An AI segmentation model (from the @imgly/background-removal library) runs on your device’s processor to detect the foreground and makes the background pixels transparent.

    Key Benefits

Runs on your device instead of a remote server. Outputs a transparent PNG ready for design tools.

    Limitations and Important Notes

The first run downloads a model and can be slow. Hair, fur, glass and low-contrast edges may not be perfect. Large images can take time on slower devices.

    Privacy and Security

The AI model files are downloaded to your browser, but your image is processed on your device and is not uploaded to Usekit servers.

    Real-World Example

Upload a photo of a shoe on a white table. After processing, the preview shows only the shoe, and the downloaded PNG has a transparent background.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the first run slow?

The AI model must be downloaded once. Later runs are faster.

    What format is the result?

    PNG, because it supports transparency.

Can I change the background color?

Not here. Place the PNG over any background in a design app.
